Ganga water levels keep rising. On Saturday, Ganga’s water level rose, submerging Manikarnika Ghat’s lower steps. If this continues, the water will approach the cremation site. According to the Central Water Commission, Ganga’s water level rose 21 cm in 24 hours to 61.86 metres.
Ganga rose one centimetre per hour on Saturday. Water hyacinths are also popping up due to the strong stream. Sailors now guard vessels due to Ganga’s higher water level from Yamuna. Ganga’s growing water level alerts the district authorities. Control room water level monitoring continues. The Central Water Commission reported 61.78 metres at 8 am and 61.86 metres at 9 pm. In 24 hours, the Ganges in Kashi may rise more and the ghats may lose connectivity.
